Blocked: your digital rights and how they’re under threat
NetBlocks and Impact Hub present an interactive discussion on the state of the internet and digital rights. The first part of the evening will be a fast-track introduction to your digital rights, answering the big questions: What is internet freedom and online censorship? Why does this matter? Following which, a short simulation will be done to show what happens when the internet gets shut down and how NetBlocks has built technology to track censorship in near real time. We will round out the event with an all-female panel of politicians, activists and developers to debate what your digital rights are and how they’re under threat.
The NetBlocks Group is an independent civil society group working at the intersection of digital rights, cyber-security and internet governance in order to work towards an open and inclusive digital future for all. Their work supporting at-risk users and fighting internet shutdowns has received the Index on Censorship Award for Digital Activism.
