Feedback & Falafel: Working with ‘the corporate world’

Feedback & Falafel: Working with ‘the corporate world’

Impact Hub Islington has traditionally been a space that attracts people who are primarily motivated by a social purpose. As we move closer to the City in January, it seems fitting to look more closely at the relationship between socially-motivated Hubbers and ‘the corporate world’ and explore how the two could meet.

Hubber Annette MacKenzie has been exploring the commercial sector since she left the BBC five years ago to earn a living as a writer for business. For a while, she felt lost between organisations that seemed to only care about leveraging market differences and pursuing operational excellence. However, most business people she worked with in recent years  – with only one or two exceptions – have been really great.

Annette will share her thoughts on working with big corporations and collect ideas on how Hubbers, who have not crossed paths with commercial organisations before, may find meaningful engagement. Questions will include:

Could your project benefit from corporate sponsorship?

Could business processes help your team be more effective?

Could you engage with volunteers from the corporate world?

Should we be sharing helpful business contacts?

Hosts will take falafel orders (£3.50) at 12 noon

Nov 29th
