Pitch and Pizza: Mike Levy on Angel’s ‘Citizen of the World’
You probably pass it every day but give it little thought. The monument in Angel Square is to Thomas Paine (1737-1809) one of the most remarkable revolutionaries in British history. He wrote part of his world-changing book, The Rights of Man, more or less on that spot.
He was a central figure in the American AND French revolutions, pioneer of social reform, scourge of kings and bishops. Mike Levy will invite you to join an exciting theatre and history project to make people aware of the monument and Paine’s ‘more amazing than Hollywood’ life.
