Queer Warriors: Resourcing & Supporting the LGBT+ Community

Queer Warriors: Resourcing & Supporting the LGBT+ Community

Lesbian, gay, bisexual, asexual, queer, straight, trans, cis, intersex, questioning, genderqueer, non-binary, curious and beyond: this workshop is for people of all genders and sexualities. Everyone is welcome.

A Queer Warrior’s workshop aims to creatively empower the LGBT+ community and its allies with communication and engagement skills.

Sign up here – the event is free for the first 5 Hub members, just quote QWHUBTicket.

What it will involve:

  • Form a supportive group within which we can explore our own identities.
  • Discuss key terms within the LGBTQIA+ acronym.
  • Exercise our creativity with storytelling and writing exercises.
  • Build our own characters – our own ‘queer warriors’ – and equip them with psychological and metaphorical resources they can use to support themselves on their quests.

The workshop will run from 7-9pm with half an hour at the end for chatting, drinks and nibbles.

The workshop is aimed at:

  • Members of the LGBT+ community seeking empowerment and LGBT+ allies
  • Those working in multiple sectors including campaigning, activism and education
  • Artists, storytellers, writers, theatre makers, creatives

This is the first workshop in a series of three. The second will explore personal storytelling, empathy and the hero’s quest (Tuesday 25th April) whilst the third will focus on building community and going beyond the hero’s quest as a story structure (Tuesday 23rd May). Each event is standalone.

For more information on the first Queer Warrior’s workshop you can read Rob’s blog post.
