Sci Fi, Storytelling and Revolution!

Sci Fi, Storytelling and Revolution!

In a world of Brexit, Trump and climate change what role do stories play in bringing about social change? Can post-apocalyptic scenarios from novels and films be of any use for us except to make us more depressed?

In this day-long workshop you’ll explore all these questions, hopefully showing that speculative fiction from writers such as Ursula Le Guin, Marge Piercy and Octavia Butler can provide vision and inspiration for our own troubling times.

You’ll also share practical storytelling techniques with which you can write your own sci-fi stories or put to use telling your story of change now.

All this will be done in an interactive and participatory way. All are welcome – whether you’ve never read or watched anything you consider Sci Fi or whether you’re a self confessed geek!

This workshop is run by Resist + Renew and narrative coach Robert Holtom.

Tickets are on a sliding scale – the recommended donation is £15 for waged participants.
