Feedback & Falafel: Public speaking series: The Authentic You

Feedback & Falafel: Public speaking series: The Authentic You

The Hub community harbours an astonishing treasure of knowledge and skills. On Tuesdays, we invite Hub members as well as people outside our community to offer a glimpse into their world. From community mapping to sales workshops or learning how to play the ukulele, each week opens a new door.

Ingrid Marsh from Women with Voices offers a quick & dirty dive into the world of public speaking over the course of three sessions.

Public speaking is a contested territory filled with mixed emotions. Some love it, some hate it, and we’re all told from an early age that it’s a really important skill. But it isn’t a skill that comes with clear instructions that you can simply follow and ‘get it right’. Public speaking is all about practice – some even call it an art form.

Being authentic is the most powerful and direct way to connect with an audience. But it can be a real challenge to do in practice, because we’re conditioned to play different roles in different contexts – business leaders, advisors, critics, friends, mums/dads, partners, colleagues, managers… In this session, Ingrid will open her toolbox to share tips and techniques that will help you identify not only what might be hold you back from being your true self, but also find ways to overcome those barriers with confidence and creativity.

Hosts will take falafel orders at 12 noon and pick up delicious falafel wraps from the local chapel market for the start of the session. Join us for a colourful lunch of learning, laughter and tahini.

Order your falafel wrap (£3) at 12 noon, the event starts at 1pm.
